iCept Testing

iCept Testing consists of 8 tests (4 visual and 4 auditory) on the iPad that take about 40 minutes to complete.  

Eye Track – measures the number of errors that are made when making voluntary eye movements to the left and to the right.

• Poor eye tracking affects reading accuracy and can result in skipping words and lines – especially when viewing detailed text.

Visual Span – measures the “window” of how far to the side we can attend to visual information.

• Poor visual span affects reading speed and may result in missing the begining and ending of words.

Visual Count – measures the response to a number of circles flashed on the screen.

• Poor visual count affects concept of “number” & can result in slower arithmetic.

Visual Spatial – measures number & letter reversals or “directionality”.

• Poor spatial awareness affects the ability to judge direction and can result in losing place, messy writing, letter reversals and difficulty visualizing words.

Auditory Discrimination – measures the ability to distinguish between two sounds. These comprise of four sub-tests: volume, gap-detection,frequency and temporal order.

• Poor auditory discrimination affects word discrimination and can result in difficulty with sounding out words, spelling and following instructions.

Together, these tests provide parents and educators with a simple evaluation of visual & auditory skills. The scores obtained for each test are compared against a database consisting of 700 students. After completing the testing a pdf iCept Report can be sent to your email address with specific training recommendations.
